Matthew Hughes is Ellis Porter’s Talent Acquisition Coordinator, helping build the teams behind the firm’s mission. As a member of the People Experience team, he sources and welcomes talent to create a workplace where every Porter feels supported and has a meaningful opportunity to thrive. He also leads projects that improve Porters’ everyday experience.

Matthew sees each candidate conversation as a chance to hear a person’s story, not simply review a résumé. He listens closely to understand what someone needs in their next role and guides them through the process with honesty and care. His connection to immigration work is personal: his mother immigrated from Jamaica, and summers spent with her family on the island helped him better understand the courage it took for her to build a new life in the United States.

Outside of work, Matthew studies Japanese, sings karaoke, and follows content about travel and cultures around the world. He also volunteers as a guest handler at conventions, supporting voice actors and musical talent, and shares his home with two cats who believe they run the household.
