Amy Travis is an attorney at Ellis Porter, focused on J-1 waivers, waivers of inadmissibility, and adjustment of status matters. She works diligently to help clients pursue positive outcomes, including in challenging circumstances, and wants each client to feel heard, supported, and safe in her care. Amy brings a steady, attentive approach to a complex and constantly evolving area of law.
Before becoming an attorney, Amy taught English as a Second Language to adults and worked as a caseworker at a nonprofit organization. Her students and clients were immigrants with a wide range of backgrounds and statuses, and their determination to build new lives in the United States shaped her decision to dedicate her legal career to serving immigrants. Her great-grandparents’ immigration story also continues to inform that commitment. Outside of work, Amy enjoys hiking, vegetable gardening, cooking, and playing the piano.
