DHS Announces Extension of Non-Essential Travel Restrictions with Canada and Mexico

The Department of Homeland security announced today that non-essential travel at US land ports of entry with Canada and Mexico will continue to be limited based on health and safety concerns related to COVID-19. DHS confirmed that Canada and Mexico agreed on the need to extend their non-essential travel restrictions as well.

Generally speaking, the cross-border travel of Canadian and Mexican citizens with US work visas for purposes of employment has been considered essential travel that is not restricted.

No timetable was provided for when these non-essential travel restrictions could be lifted.
